Registration FAQs

How can I tell if a class is full?

A class will be marked as FULL when it has reached it's limit. Once classes start to reach capacity, you will see "1 seat left" or "2 seats left".  If you don't see any of this wording next to the class name, there are at least 3 seats available.

Tell me more about 1st Class Choice and 2nd Class Choice?

We will do all we can to get you into your first class choice, but if a particular class day/time is in high demand, it may reach capacity. We take class size very seriously. The quality of the classroom experience degrades quickly (particularly with young children) when the class becomes overwhelming for everyone in the room. Limiting class size is something that you'll grow to appreciate about our program. On the opposite extreme, when classes are too small, they just aren't dynamic enough for a true Music Together® experience. For this reason, we may have to cancel or combine a class offering--we just can't know what classes will actually run until registration is complete. Sometimes we are scrambling just days before the semester start to populate a small class further. Believe us, that scramble is the least-fun part of running the program. We will do all in our power to keep it from occurring. Sharing your 2nd class choice at registration, though, is an immense help to us when we run into such scheduling challenges. On the whole, it is safe to assume that you are in your first class choice (as long as it wasn't marked FULL at the time of your registration).

Infant Siblings in Mixed Age class:

Baby brother? Baby sister? Infant twin? We do not charge for siblings under 9 months old (at time of registration) in our Mixed Age program. PLEASE enroll the infant at the time of your registration. The computer is SMART--it will see that your infant is younger than 9 months and will not generate a fee. We rely heavily on our class rosters (children's names for our Hello/Goodbye Songs) that it is an immense help to have the infant officially enrolled, despite their free enrollment. So, please add them to your registration order.

Older child in Rhythm Kids®, younger child in Mixed Age:

Our registration system cannot handle this, particular scenario. Your best bet is to register both children separately, then contact the director for a refund. We will charge the Rhythm Kid sibling rate for your Mixed Aged attendee, which will generate a small refund to your payment method.

Payment plans--tell me more:

Payment plans make our program affordable for most families. We are so happy to have this option for your family. After your initial $50 deposit, you will be billed monthly on your default credit card you have listed on your account profile in our system. Please note: If you choose the 4 month payment cycle, it is very likely that you will have overlapping payments for a month (or two, depending on when you register). In general, this is a non-issue for those choosing the 3-payment option.

Rhythm Kids® (drum purchase, adult participation, younger siblings):

All children need a child-sized djembe drum. Depending on the style you choose, the cost will range from $40-$75. Most families choose the $40 option. We will offer a drum to you at our reduced cost. This is a one-time purchase--so if your child joins us for multiple Rhythm Kids® sessions, you'll be set.

Adult participation is optional, but we love having grown ups in the room--it makes a huge difference. Most adults look forward to the 45 minute class each week. Please do not use our classes to practice separation anxiety. We want class to be joyful, not a point of stress for your child.

The most non-Music Together thing about our program: Younger siblings cannot join in Rhythm Kids® classes. The structure of the class is different enough that we cannot accomodate the needs of younger children. (like "taking turns", etc)

Absences: We plan to be out of town . . . My child is sick . . . I am feeling under the weather

We permit 3 makeups per child per semester. Why the limit? We are are trying to build community in each class. A steady group is ideal for the children and the adults in the room. But, we also know that live throws curveballs. We have an easy-to-use online makeup scheduler that will allow you to schedule your makeups (before or after the absence) as needed. You can also return to the scheduler to cancel or reschedule your makeup.
